As Joel Sherman of the NY Post reported earlier, Joe Girardi is apparently on the verge of signing a 3 year $9M contract to remain with the Yankees. This really isn’t really surprising news. Once the Cubs decided to fill their job with interim manager Mike Quade, that all but put a rubber stamp on Girardi returning. Seriously, where else was he going to go? He has a great job with an organization that has seemingly unlimited resources, an unparalleled history, and a legitimate shot of winning the World Series every year. Unless he felt the Yankees were purposely trying to either disrespect him, or run him out of town, he’d be stupid to leave.
