Superhero Falls Mortal
It was a very rough fifth night for Cliff Lee. His final line? 4-2/3 innings, 7 R (6 ER) on 8 H, 1 BB, 1 HBP, and 7 K. Five of those runs came in the fifth inning. He seemed to be off by just a little all night. He seemed to be leaving his cutter over the heart of the plate just a little up in the zone. It looks like even superhero pitchers can have bad nights. That still doesn't change the fact that I have a giant non-sexual man crush on the guy.
As for Tim Lincecum, he's exiting the game up 8-4 in the top of the sixth with two outs and runners on first and second. He leaves after giving up 4 runs, 8 hits, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts in 5-2/3 innings.
So much for one of the great pitching match-ups of all time...
